I fell off the wagon!

Hey everyone, how have you all been; it’s been a little while since I’ve written hasn’t it? For those you that don’t know, when I got serious about weight-loss I lost about 20lbs over the course of a few months… slow and steady! I thought I’d got in to a good groove.

That was a good few months ago now; and I can tell you all, I’m back to where I started… I put it all back on again!

Now, I could sit here and list off a number of excuses…

  • The extra-stress at work because there have been HUGE shake-ups;
  • The 3 hour round commute;
  • The snow that makes it more difficult to get to the gym;
  • The fact that my girlfriend likes to bake and I have weak willpower;
  • I didn’t like the atmosphere at the gym!
  • Etc Etc Blah Blah Blah!

Let’s be honest, we could probably all come up with at least 10 good excuses for why we chose to eat a muffin instead of an apple! At the end of the day, it really does come down to decisions and laziness:

  • I decided to order in Pizza instead of making a meal. It probably took longer for the Pizza to arrive than it would have done to cook the bloody meal!
  • I decided to stay in because I was tired. I probably stayed up later because my brain was so active – at least if I’d gone to the gym I would have tired myself out!
  • I decided not to wait for the kettle to boil; and instead walk to the bakery to get breakfast. It would have probably been quicker to boil the kettle and pour the water over oatmeal (plus I would have saved a fortune).
  • I decided to eat out more than eat in; (again, couldn’t be bothered to cook);
  • I decided to eat chips instead of veg; (the corner store was closer than the veg store);

ETC ETC BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!

Looking back, it’s pretty obvious to see where I went wrong. And it’s pretty obvious that I was using the round trip to work as an excuse for being lazy in the morning and even lazier in the evening. Even if I don’t have time to do 2 hour runs 5 days a week; it’s doesn’t mean I can’t do a 30 minute jog and make better food choices.

So, this is not a promise to be 10% body fat by the end of the year; or a promise to be able to run a mile in sub 7mins… it’s purely a promise to make better decisions and stop being so lazy.

Mike.
